The Center for Inspired Teaching is offering professional development for the 2016-17 school year to charter schools in Washington, DC. Through Inspired Teaching’s yearlong BLISS: Building Literacy In the Social Studies and SCALE: Science Curriculum Advancement through Literacy Enhancement program, aspiring Teacher Leaders will strengthen their own inquiry-based, standards-aligned practice, and learn to provide professional development to their colleagues and coaching to their peers. The program includes a two-week intensive training during summer 2016, ongoing coaching and support by Inspired Teaching staff throughout the school year, and two whole-school professional development sessions co-facilitated by Inspired Teaching staff and the school’s own BLISS and SCALE Teacher Leaders. At the end of the program, schools will have classroom teachers who can also serve as coaches and in-house professional development staff. The whole school will benefit from stronger, standards-aligned instruction through this new pathway to leadership for teachers. It costs  $5,000 per teacher, plus a professional development fee. The 2016-2017 program begins on July 11, 2016.
