Program Background

To keep up with the demand for a skilled workforce capable of adapting to 21st century needs, today’s students should be exposed to unique opportunities providing the necessary training, knowledge, and skills to pursue careers in STEM-related fields.  To meet this demand, teachers need to be provided effective professional development in order to be well-equipped and comfortable in delivering high quality STEM experiences to their students.

The DC Secondary STEM Fair STEM Studio, held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 (location TBD), will be a half-day (approximately 8:30 am – 12:00 pm) of hands-on, specialized professional development workshops that provide a variety of STEM experiences for secondary educators.  By attending, teachers will engage in activities related to STEM using a blend of pedagogy and hands-on applications.  The goal of the STEM Studio is to increase educators’ comfort level and ability in delivering STEM learning experiences to students.

Your organization can host a workshop at the DC Elementary STEM Fair STEM Studio.  There will be multiple workshops that educators can choose from, with each workshop being 90 minutes in duration.  Your organization can request to host a workshop twice during this half-day event.
