The DC STEM Network is proud to host and manage the DC STEM Fair on March 19, 2016 at Dunbar High School. This year’s secondary fair will include student, family, and teacher STEM learning opportunities, making the STEM Fair a great opportunity to engage the DC community in STEM. The DC STEM Fair will bring in students from public, private, and parochial schools to showcase their STEM Fair projects, community partners to showcase their STEM programs and learning opportunities, and 100 teachers to participate in a quality professional development opportunity.

Help make the 2016 DC STEM Fair a Success!

  • Submit a Special Award*.  Organizations can give a Special Award to a subset of students (e.g. high school seniors) and/or a particular subject area (e.g. engineering). Awards can range, depending on the donor, but can include:
    • An opportunity to participate in a STEM learning opportunity, such as:
      • A behind-the-scenes tour of a lab, museum exhibit, or corporate headquarters
      • An opportunity to present STEM Fair project to a group of experts or staff
      • Lunch with an expert in the field of their STEM Fair project
      • A summer or school-year internship
      • Passes to a national or regional conference for a student and a guardian
    • A monetary award or scholarship
  • Become a judge.* Judges are critical to the success of the DC STEM Fair! Spend 4-5 hours reviewing and judging student projects. Judges will receive a short training the morning of the Fair. This year, we anticipate needing 100 judges to talk with students about their project and assign awardees. The Fair is seeking judges through March 11, 2016.
  • Volunteer at the Fair.* The DC STEM Fair needs your help! This year, we anticipate needing 40 volunteers to help set up, ensure timely transitions, set up lunch, and help take down the event. Generally, volunteers commit 7 hours on the day of the Fair. The Fair is seeking volunteers through March 11, 2016.
  • Sponsor an interactive display or activity at the STEM Expo.* The DC STEM Fair will include a STEM Expo. Private and public organizations, institutions of higher education, and STEM-oriented programs are invited to submit an application to present an interactive display or activity at the Expo, held concurrently with the DC STEM Fair. Registration for exhibitors will open soon. Check our website for updates.
  • Donate to the DC STEM Fair. Making a contribution to the DC STEM Fair supports student STEM competitions in DC! Donations are managed through the Carnegie Institution of Washington, a 501(c)3 organizations. All donations are tax-deductible. Please email for more information.

*If your organization is one of the first 15 to sign up to give a Special Award, 5 judges, or 5 volunteers, the Network will provide a complimentary table space at the STEM Expo that takes place at the STEM Fair.

Please contact if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you to make the DC STEM Fair a success!
