The DC STEM Network is pleased to announce Harry Wingo as the keynote speaker of the 2015 STEM Summit, STEM City: Capital for the Future.

Harry Wingo is the President and CEO of the DC Chamber of Commerce. In that capacity, he leads a team of professionals in the Nation’s Capital to provide Washington businesses with passionate advocacy, valuable networking opportunities, and enlightening educational programs. Wingo is a technology consultant, former Google executive and retired Navy SEAL, a D.C. native and current District resident.

“We know just how special District businesses are and everything we do is dedicated to delivering the capital they value.” Harry Wingo, DC Chamber of Commerce

Founder and Managing Partner of West River Solutions, a cybersecurity firm, Wingo spent five years in Google’s DC office, where he served as a Senior Policy Counsel for nearly four years and also led a program to increase the hiring of military veterans. At Google, Wingo routinely briefed Congress and the Executive Branch about a range of Internet technology issues, with a focus on cloud computing, privacy and security.

Wingo was born in Washington, DC, where he currently lives with his wife, Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Wingo and daughters Hailey, Alexandra and Natalie. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the DC Public Library Foundation, Destination DC and On-Ramps to Careers, and serves on the Service Academy Selection Board for Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and Senator Barbara Mikulski. Most recently, Harry joined the DC STEM Network’s Advisory Council.

As a native Washingtonian who was trained in STEM, leads a successful career in which he employs STEM skills, and is now leading the DC Chamber of Commerce, Wingo can speak to how DC is and can become a greater STEM City, and how we can build capital for DC’s future workforce.

The STEM Summit will take place on November 5, 2015 at Gallaudet University’s Kellogg Conference Center.
