Family Afternoon: Can You CANstruct?

November 25 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

CANstruction is a nationwide program that aims to raise awareness about hunger by building sculptures out of cans of food. Engineer your own can-tastic creations at this family event! Design a plan for an original CANstruction piece using paper mosaics. Explore the engineering challenges on display in the Great Hall as you try your hand at building your own 3-dimensional structure.

Don’t forget to bring a canned good to vote for your favorite creation!

This program complements AIA DC’s CANstruction event which runs from November 19th- November 26th in the Great Hall. In DC, Canstruction is organized by the Washington Architectural Foundation as a creative design-build competition that benefits the Capital Area Food Bank through donations of canned goods. Teams from architecture and design firms from Washington, DC use their skills to build sculptures out of cans of food. The nutritious shelf-stable food is donated to the Capital Area Food Bank for distribution to those in need after the event.
